BRASS BAND.

A general meeting of members and intending members of the Motueka Brass Band was held in the band hall on Wednesday evening. Mr A. I. Manoy was voted to the chair. Minutes of last meeting was read and adopted. The chairman said, with reference to Mr A. Manoy’s offer, the money to satisfy the claim of Messrs Begg and Co., would be paid over as soon as all instruments were handed in. The Secretary, Mr G. H. Budden, said he had seen the Manager of the of New Zealand, Mr Symes, re mkhe balance to credit of the band, who statethe money would be handed over dn certain formalities being gone through. The credit balance was <£l 18s. ■ . The election of efficers was then proceed with as follows: President, Mr T. G. Brougham ; Vice Presidents, T. Macmahon and Dr Deck ; Committee, Messrs H. Budden, G. Boundy, Knapp, Avery and Cate with officers ex officio members ; Secretary and Treasurer Mr G. H. Budden. Four new members were enrolled and terms of entrance fixed. Mr C. Avery offered to conduct the band free of charge for three months, an offer which was accepted with hearty thanks. It was agreed that the Trustees and the Committee meet next week to frame rules and transact other business. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings. It was stated at the meeting of the Band that there were now players for the whole of the instruments. It is therefore to be hoped practices will be regular and consistent and that when Coronation celebrations are held the Motueka Brass Band now happily rey cussitated will redeem its old reputa tion for good, popular music.
