CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor
Sir : I was exceedingly sorry to read the letters from your correspondents in your last issue ; the more so because the invitations I sent out were thoroughly meant in earnest, and my committee intended it to be a hearty invitation to all the school children in the district. Your correspondents were perfectly justified in their remarks, and it was fair criticism. But, Sir, these bickerings are hard to bear impassively. The fact of the matter is, that ever since the Council, out of the fulness of their hearts, so generously voted ,£lO towards the Celebrations, there has been nothing but trouble. I think if the committee was to reorganise the thing altogether, and ask for public subscriptions, and do away with the Council and their dictation as to terms altogether, things would be more amicable all round. I have been asked to write out a subscription list, and offered £2 for a start, so it is worth while considering. Apologising for trespassing so much on your space. I am, etc., G. W. Jenkins, Hon. Sec. Coronation Committee.
