The Americans are acknowledged tu be keen, progressive business men always on the alert to push trade by legitimate means writh the aid of travellers and when distance has to be taken into consideration they use the post to circulate handbills, leaflets, and other printed matter, the bulk of the last mentioned being show cards and almanacs. Of the latter we have to acknowledge the eceipt, through the local agent, Mr P. G. Moffatt, of issued by the Union MetaUie-C^rtridge Company. The picture is a striking one, appropriate, and entitled “A Chip of the old Block.” The representation is that of a boy clothed with the usual shooting raiment and having the gear necessary to “bag” the birds of the air, a brace of which are dependent from his shoulder. At the back of the almanac is printed a lot of useful postal information: The New Zealand representatives of the company are Messrs E. W. Mills and Co., Limited, Wellington. Chamberlain s Cough Remedy loosens the cough, relieves the lungs and opens the secretions. It counteracts any tendency of a cold to result in pneumonia. It is unequaled for bad colds. It always cures and cures quickly. A. Manoy sells it. '
