STOCK SALES. Christchurch. May 21. Following is a report of the weekly stock sale at Addington : Fat cattle---204, including some primt heavy-weights. The trade being over-supplied on the previous week, beef, especially heavy sorts, eased to 18s 6d to 24s'pe r 1001 b. Pr me bullocks, to £l2 12s 6d ; best steers, L 8 lOstoLlOlOs; others, L 5 17s 6d to L 8; prime heifers, L 8 to 1.9 10s; others, L 5 5s to L 7 10s : heavy cows, L7toL 87s ; Others ;L4 15s to L 6 10s. ■ Fat sheep—6ooo. Ewes, which were in great demand for fieezing, showed an advance, while wethers quiteheld their own. Freezing wethers, 15s 6d and 18s 6d, to 19s 6d f.r extra prime ; freezing ewes, 10s 6d and 14s 6d to 15s 6d ; butchers’ best ewes, 12s and 15s, to 17s for extra ; otiiers, 7s 5d to 11s. Fat lambs —1500, Including a lot unfinished. Good sorts were in demand ; about two-thirds of the entry were taken for export at 10s to 13s 6d ; tegs, to 14s; unfinished, weaker, 6s to 9s 6d. Store sheep —4744, mostly ary wethers and lambs. A nice line * f forward wetners made made 15s , f tir sorts, 12s to 13s 6d ; backward, 10s 6d to 11s; aged ewes, 4s to 5s 31: better, to 9s; forwar.. lambs, 4 s 6d to 8s 9d ; backward,, 5s lOd to 7s. Pigs —Only 200. The shortage caused an advance in prices of both stores and fats. At Burnside market, 213 fat cattle were yarded. Messrs Freeman R. -Jackson and C', (in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams), report that at their sale at Johnsonville, near Wellington on Friday last as follows .—We had our usual yarding of cattle made up of fair to medium bullocks, with a few pens of fair cows. Beef made 21s per 1001 b; cow beef, 18s. We quote — Best bullocks, £8 10s to £8 15s; others, £7 17s 6d to £8 7s 6d ; cows, £6 to £6 7s Od ; light cows, £4 17s 6d to £5 10s. Ne prime sheep came forward. Medium ewes made 10s to 10s lOd and 0s 8d to 9s lOd ; wethers, 12s; forward ewes, 8s 3d ; forward wethers, 10s 4d ; medium lambs, 8s 6d to 9s Id.
