The Wanganui Herald of the Ist of May says : A pretty wedding vas celebrated yesterday at St. John’s English Church, when Joseph Robert Davey, third son of Mr William Davey, of the Lower Moutere, Nelson, and Grace Josephine, only daughter of Mr Joseph Handley of Spiers Street, Aramoho, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the Rev T. B. Maclean being the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a cream lustre trimmed with silver gymp, lace, and silk trimmings, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms and a very pretty gold brooch (the gift of the bridegroom), and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was attended by Miss Ivy Perrett cousin of the bride), and Miss Mabel Love, both wearing nuns’ veiling dresses and Dutch bonnets and very gold brooches (the gift of the bridegroom), and carried bouquets. Mr W. Gibson noted as best man. The bride’s travelling dress was a very pretty navy blue cloth, with cream silk trimmings, and toque to match. The happy couple leffcj mid showers of rice and good wishes, by the midday train en route for Nelson, where the honeymoon will be spent. The wedding presents were both numerous and costly, and evidenced the high respect in which the bride and bi-idegroom are held by their many friends. The North Otago Times has seen a communication with regard to the price at which Californian wheat can be brought to New Zealand. The price is 3s 4d a bushel. To this has been added! a duty and landing charges equal to 4|d. Roughly, the prices may be put at 4s a bushel. The same coimnunicav'oq says that flour can be landed in New Zealand at £7 2s 6d a ton, plus a ■ mty of £1 a ton and other charges of Us. This is'equal to £8 7s 6d.
