MEETING OF FRUITGROWERS

The fruitgrowers in Motueka and neighboring districts met together on Monday evening to consider the advisability of establishing a co-operative Company: The question was discussed at some length, and the following resolutions were adopted : 1. That it was necessary for the fruitgrowers to combine to control the sale of small fruits. 2. That a Co-operative Limited Liability Company be formed. 3. That Messrs Lloyd, Thorp, Trewavas, T. Pattie and Duclgeon be a Committee to ascertain the details necessary for the formation of such a Company, independent of Government monetary aid, and that Mr Blackmore, the Government Pomologist, be requested to assist in giving advice to the Committee. 4. That each Committeeman endeavor to ascertain what measure of support the proposed Company will receive in the district in which he resides. 5. That a meeting be held next Monday evening to receive a report from the Committee appointed.
