A short time ago a meeting was held in the Motueka School, to discuss the advisability of-forming a local branch of the Educational Institute. Great interest was shown by the teachers thaoughout this part of the distx-ict, and in spite of the meeting being held at an inauspicious time ten put in an ap-peai-ance ; while in all seventeen notified their willingness to become members. Mr Easton of the Lower Moutere, was elected President of the Branch, and Mr Andrews, of Riwaka, Secretary. The Bi-anch has made a vigorous start, and has every prospect of a flourishing and useful career. Similar Branches in other parts have proved of great assistance to the teachers, and have rendered yeoman service to the cause of education.
