The following are current prices paid to farmers, f.0.b., Lyttelton, and free of commission,, except where otherwise specified : Wheat: Prime milling, Tuscan 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; Hunter's pearl and velvet 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; new 3s 3d to 3s 4d at country stations. Christchurch, April 9. Fat cattle—ls 7 were yarded to-day, being mostly good sorts, and a rise of 10s to 12s pei head occurred. Beef, 19s to 24s per 1001 b, and up t > 26s for extra quality. Prime heavy stfers, .£9 to £ll 12s 6d ; others, £Q to L 8 10s ; prime heifers, £8 17s 6d to L 9 17s 6d; others, L 5 15s to L 8 ; prime cows, L 8 10s to L 9 15 ; others, L 5 2s 6d to LB. Fat sheep—About 400, including more wethers than usual. Export buyers competed keenly. Good ewes rose Is to Is 6d. Prime wethers, 15s 6d to 17s 6d; lighter, 13s 6d to 15s prime ewes, 15s 7d to 16s lid; good, 12s 6d to 15s ; others, 9s 6d to 12s. Fat lambs—Bßo, mostly good qua"lty and a rise of 6d to 9d took place. For export 600 sold at 10s 6d to 14s, averaging 12s 9d ; 200 to butchers at 8s 9dtol3sßd. Store sheep—l6,ooo, mostly from Nelson. There was good sale for all sorts, especially for forward wethers and young ewes. Forward wethers, 12s to 13s 7a ; medium, 10s 9d to lis 9d ; backward and small, 8s to 10s 3d ; good young ewes, 12s 9d to 13s; fair sorts, 9s 2d to 10s 6d ; aged, 6s 6d to 8s ; forward lambs, 7s to 8s 5d ; backward. 6s 6d to 8s Id ; shorn, 4s.

Pigs—s6o, including some good fats. There was improved sale for these porkers being scarce. Large stores were kept up by Southern buyers, but little pigs were unsaleable. Baooners, 30s to 47s 6d, equal to 3d and 3|d per lb; porkers, 24s to 31s, equal to 3|d and 4d ; strong stores, 22s and 235. Dunedin, April 9. At Burnside Market to-day 162 fat cattle were yarded, mostty medium to good. Prices were slightly in advance of those of last week. Best bullocks, £8 10s to ,£9- 17s 9d , medium to good. £7 10s to £8 5s ; light,. £6 10* to £7 5s ; best cows and heifers, «£6 10s to £7 10s ; medium to good, £5 to £Q 2s 6d; light and aged, £3los to £4 10s. Fat sheep-:—1554.. Good young ewes and wethers brought prices in ad-

vance of last week, while aged and inferior were difficult .to quit. Best crossbred wethers, 14s 6d to 15s 6d ; medium to good, 12s to 13s 6d ; best ewes, lis 6d to 13s 6d ; medium, 8s 6d to 10s 6d ; light and aged 4 4s to 7s 6d.

Fat lambs—s 97, nearly all medium quality. For prime competition was good at 9s 6d to lis 6d ; medium, 7s to 8s 6%others, 4s 6d to 6d 6d.

. Pigs—274. -Suckers, 5s to 10s 6d ; slips, 13s 6d to 15s 6d ; stores, 18s to 21s; porkers, 24s to 31s; baconers, 39s to 48s ; choppers, 555.

Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co (in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams) report that at their sale at Johnsonville, near "Wellington, on Friday as follows :—A somewhat larger entry than usual of prime bullocks met with a bragging sale. Beef made 21s. We quote :—Best bullocks, L 9 to L 8 15s; others, L 8 12s 6d to L 8 7s 6d ; lighter sorts, L 7 15s to L 6 17s 6d. Sheep were in very small supply. A small line of fat ewes made 10s 9d ; lambs, 7s 9d to 7s lOd ; full-mouthed store ewes, 4s. PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs Thompson Bros and Co furnish the following report of the Wellington fruit, dairy and produce, market: Apples, Cox's Orange, choice 8s to 9s per case of4olbs; medium 5s to 7s ; Adams' Pearmain, choice, 5s 6d to 6s 6d ; medium, 4s 6d to 5s ; Russets, choice, 5s to 6s ; medium, 4s 3d to 5s ; cookers, choice, 3s 6d to 4s, medium 2s 6d to 3s. Mothy apples unsaleable, except at very low rates. Pears : Choice Marie Louise, 9s 3d to 10s 6d, medium 7s 6d to 8s 6d, choice Bishop's Thumbs 7s to Bs, medium 5s 6d to 6s gd, choice L.B. Jersey 6s gd to 7s 6d, choice Beurre Deihl 7s 6d to 9s, medium 6s to 6s 9d, choice Beurre Bos 7s to 7s 6d, medium 5s 9d to 6s 6d, choice Bergamot 4s to 4s 9d, medium 3s to 3s gd, choice cooking 4s to 5s 6d.

Peaches: Choice 5s to 5s 6d, medium 4s to 4s 9d half case. Demand good. Grapes : Outdoor grown, 2s 6d to 3s per iolb box, hot house is to is 3d lb. Quinces : 2s 3d to 2s 6d per case. . Water melons : 3d to 7d each. Demand is not brisk.

Tomatoes: is to is 6d per half case. Onions: Canterbury £4 10s ; local £4. Potatce- : Brown Rivers and Derwent 3s 6d cvvt. •

Cucumbers : 2s to 2s 3d per half case. Marrows : 2s gd to. 3s 3d per sack. Pumpkins : 4s to 4s 6d per sack Peas : is per peck. Beans: id per lb Cabbages : Good quality 3s 3d to 3s 6d per sack, medium is 6d to 2s 3d * Cauliflowers : Good quality 5s 6d to 7s 6d per sack Pollard :£6 per ton. - Wheat: Whole 3s nd, broken 3s gd per bushel.

Eggs: Fresh is 5d to is 6d, preserved is 2d dozen

Poultry : Fowls 2s gd to 3s, roosters 3s 3d to 3s 6d, turkey hens 7s 6d, gobblers gs 6d to 12s, geese 4s 6d to ss, ducks 3s 6d per pair Butter : 8d to B£d lb.
