RIWAKA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Friday evening. Present: Messrs Bate (chairman), Drummond, Fry, James, Woolf and Cook. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed.
Correspondence was read as follows : From the Treasury Department, notifying that the sum of £7l 16s, balance of grant for Riwaka—Kaiteriteri roads, had been placed to the credit of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand, Motueka ; from Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officer, forwarding notices and forms to be sent in to the authorities, upon the outbreak of infectious diseases ; from the Borough Council, Sydenham, re compilation of valuation rolls, asking the Board to send delegate to conference to be held shortly, failing compliance in this respect requesting certain returns to be forwarded; from F. Shaw, Medical Hall, Blenheim, re his preparation for the destruction of small birds. The following accounts were passed for' payment: P. Fry, £l9 10s ;D. Woolf 6s 6d t Lucas and Son 4s 6d j G. Sudden £6 is. Tenders for 'gravelling Lodder’s road about 12 chains, were opened as follows : Jas Cook 12s per chain, E. and A. McLean, 14s 6d per chain, W. Hickmott 14s 6d per chain, unsigned tender 17s 9d per chain. On the motion of Mr Drummond, seconded by Mr Fry, the lowest tender was accepted.
Mr Fry proposed, seconded by Mr Drummond, That the Secretary write to all those inteiestedin the Swamp ditches, and invite them to meet the Board on Saturday, the 19th instant, at one o’clock at the school corner, with the view of having them cleaned out.
It was resolved, fhat the secretary take the necessary steps in connection with th« forthcoming election, of three members. This concluded the business.
