MOTUEKA LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The qtra-iteily meeting of tie r.'hove was held in the Court house on Tuesday. •

Present :: Messrs Heaps,- S:M, (in the chair), Baigent,. Thomas, McMahon, and Franklyn„ , Minutes of .previous meeting were read and adopted. Mr MeMahon enquired as to what had been done in connection with the Belgrove Hotel. The new, building was to be completed before the next annual meeting, in accordance with plans and specifications submitted. The building had not yet been started. Mr Maginnity, on behalf of the owners, said the undertaking entered into would be faithfully carried out and that the building would be erected in time. Application for transfer of the license of the Colling wood Hotel from F. Tyree to John D. Pinkerton was granted. Mr Maginnity appeared on behalf of the applicant. Application for transfer of license of the Gordon Downs Accommodation House to John Kerr was granted. Mr Maginnity appeared for the applicant and stated that the improvements needed would be effected before the annual meeting. Application for transfer of license of the Mokihinui Hotel to Thomas Thomson was granted. The police repoi ted that the repairs and improvements ordered had not been made, but he had reason---to believe the new tenant would thoroughly renovate

the premises. Mr J. A. Harley submitted plans of the new hotel to be erected at Wakefield, on the site of the Wakefield Hotel, which were approved of by the Committee. . -

The reports of the police were .satisfactory in every respect. With reference to the repairs ordered by the committee it was mentioned that improvements had been carried out at the Post Office Hotel, Collingwood ; that the repairs to the Telegraph Hotel at Takaka were nearly completed ; that Mr H. Baigent had in hand the improvements to the Collingwood Hi tel, which would cost about L7OO. The Clerk was instructed to communicate with Mr J. lieilly, expressing the Committee's dissatisfaction at the delay in erecting the new hotel. This concluded the' business.
