]Dr John P. Wood, of Coffeyville, TJ.S., is probably the oldest practising physician ii. the world. He recently celebrate 1, his one hundredth birthday. The most wonderful thing about him is his physical strength and mental vigor. He walks without a cane, reads without glasses, and sleeps as soundly as a child. The expedition under the zoologist, M. Herz, which was sent to Kolymsk Science, has arrived at Srednekolymsk with the remains of a mammoth, which they have succeeded in excavating. The skeleton and hide are in a state of almost compl'te preservation. In the stomach and teeth of the animal, which is a male, the remains of undigested food have been found. The various parts will be xaken to St. Petersburg in a frozen state. Considerable jubilation is felt amongst flaxmillers at the cable advices from England that the price of flax has reached the satisfactory figure of .£39 a ton.
