THANKSGIVING SOCIAL.

The annual harvest thanksgiving social in connection with the Motueka Methodist Church w T as held in the Institute Hall on Wednesday evening, when there was a very good attendance of the public. The proceedings were opened shortly after eight o’clock when an excellent musical programme was tendered, songs being given bv Mis Anderson, Misses Delaney, Leslie, M. Delaney and Crofts; duets by Mrs Anderson and Miss Crofts and Messrs Boyes and King; anthem by the Choir ; recitation by Mr 11. Park ; pianoforte solos by Misses F. Fry and E. Delaney ; and selections by the Orchestral Society. The various items were well received by the audience, Mrs Anderson and Miss Leslie being encored. The accompanvists were Mrs Symqg and Misses E. Crcfts and Boyes. At the cynclusion of the concert, tea, coffee, and light refreshments were handed round, and partaken of bv those present. Addresses were delivered by Revs. Wills,'Wilson, and Johnston, after which the fruit, vegetables, poultry etc, were speedily disposed of by Mr W. J. Moffatt. It may be mentioned that the proceeds are to go towards defraying the cost of the -improvements necessary in connection \vith the Church. We are glad to learn that, after paying expenses, a veiy fair sum will be available. Just before the sale of produce commenced Mr Wills heartily thanked those who had assisted to make the festival a success, acknowledging the obligations his congregation were under to members of other denominations, wlio willingly came forward to help them along.
