Beans : 2s 8d to 2s 9d r f.o.b. Peas : (nominal). Flour (millers’ quotations); Roller, £6 15 s. Sharps : .£4. Bran : £3 10s. Oatmeal : £l3 f.o.h. Hay: £2 10s to £2 15s deliver-eel. STOCK SALES. Christcbui-ch, Dec 20. Considering that there will be no sale next week the entries at Addington to-dav were small, but quite sufficient for requirements. Fat cattle—l 67 yarded, including a fair proportion of good steers. The market opened at last week’s rates, but improved from Is to Is 6d per 1001 b; g> h Ito prime beef, 22s to 25s ; other, 17s 6.1 to 21s ; best steei s, £9 to £lO 17s 6d ; others, £7 2s 6d to £8 10s ; heifers , =£s 15s to £8 15s ; cows, £5 15s to £8 17s 6d.
Fat sheep—3soo penned, mostly good sorts, including a few choice pens I>r Christmas. These were in keen demand, Acton Estate Down and c -ossbred wethers making 23s to 30s, and J. Johns’s Downs 235. A line of North Island wethers, only landed the previous day, sold at 15s to 16s 9d. Freezers only operated moderately, but about 900 were taken for export at 14s to 15s. Butchers’ sorts sold irregularly. o l ‘diuary wethers brought 13s to 16s ; best ewes, 13s to 15s 6d ; ordinary, 9s to 12s; inferior, 4s lOd to S-i ; very prime merino wethers, 17s 6d; ordinary, 8s 2d to 10s. Fat lambs—2ooo penned, mostly g »>d qu dity. A good sale resulted in a bout halt being taken for export at 12s Id to 14s lOd, the majority making 13s 61 to 14s. The balance went t > butchers at 10s 61 tr 13s for seeondarv, a id up t) 15s 5d for prime. Store sheep—ls2o penned, mostly ewes with lambs, which sold better owing to • the late rains improving feed prospects. Two-tooth ewes with lambs, 8s 2d to 1 Is 6d ; aged ewes with lambs, 6 s 6d to 10s, all counted ; hoggets, 11s Bd.
Pigs —500 penned. Fat maintained late rates ; baconers, 34s to 495, equal to 3§rd per lb ; porkers, 23s to 30s 6d equal to 3jd to 3|d per lb. Stores were weaker, larger sorts, bringing 14s to 20s ; suckers and weaners, 5s to 9s.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. in conjunction with Messrs Abraham a id Williams) report that at their sale at Johnsonville, near Wellington, -»n Friday last, as follows : —On account of the holiday we had a double entry, CAasistingof. good, bullocks, with w
: pens of cows. The chief competition was for the bullocks and last week’s, rates were fully maintained. Cows were dull of sale. We quote beef at 20s to 21s, and cow 18s. Sheep were im fair supply, but of medium quality.. ; They sold freely. Lambs were also well represented and competition was keen for good lambs. Best bullocks, <£B 15s to £9 5s ; others. £7 15s to £8 12s 6d ; I‘ght bullocks, L 7 2s 6d to £7 10s ; cowf,' £5 15s to £7 ; extra good, £7 ; light ditto* £5 15s.
