THE LOWER AND CENTRAL MOUTERE SCHOOLS.

The annual tea party in connection with these schools was held last Wednesday on Mr Te ice’s ground near the Central Moutere School. In spite i f the unpropitiousnes of of the day a large number of children from both schools, with residents from Lower Moutere, Central Moutere, and Upper Moutere were pr esent. A projected cricket match between the two ends of the valley had to be abandoned but the young people had some enjoyable games in one of the paddocks. Mr Teece’s large barn, kindly lent for the occasion, had been tastefully decorated by the children and the young ladies of the district, while the catering was in the efficient hands of Mrs Edwin Holdaway. About 150 sat down to tea, their wants being sedulously attended to by the youth and beauty of the district. In the evening a short concert programme, hastily arranged, was gone through, the Central Moutere children giving some recitations in a most pleasing manner, greatly to the credit of their teacher. Miss Tarrant. Everyone helped to make the evening pass agreeably and it was spent most enjoyably. Too much credit cannot be given to Mr and Mrs Teeee, who have always proved themselves staunch supporters of the school, Mrs Schildhauer. Miss Teece, and the others who willingly offered gratuitous services, and to those who gave their services at the evening performance. The followingare the prize lists : CENTRAL MOUTETE SCHOOL.
