MOTUEKA BOROUGH SCHOOLS.

The breaking up of the Borough s Schools for the Christmas holidays took place on Wednesday afternoon. The Chairman of the Committee, who attended, gave a short address to teachers and scholars.in the course of which lie said the Committee heartily appreciated Mr - Langford’s services »s temporary master,, and he had every reason to believe he had gained the goodwill and esteem of the scholars. He asked the children to show by aeclaimation their appreciation, which was readily and heartily accorded. In view of the status of the school undergoing a change at an early date, he impressed upon them the necessity of regular attendance, in order to make fthe coming scholastic year a record one ten this respect. Finally lie called for three cheers for Mr Langford, which were given with, right goodwill. In bidding farewell to the children, Mr Langford thanked the committee, the scholars, and the public in general for the kindness meted out to him and for making his sojourn amongst them a season of pleasant remembrance. As the coming men and women of the future, he urged the hoys and girls to note the Chairman’s remarks re attendance and to take every advantage of the educational facilities they would shortly have. He bespoke a favorable reception for their new teacher, Mr Harris, and hoped they would accord him the same respect and obedience they had shown to him. He concluded by wishing them a happy Christmas. Cheers having been given for th» other teachers, the scholars dispersed t :j their homes.
