Fat cattle.—l7l- yarded. A dull f-;ale, and prices fell to 17s 6d to 25s per l<~>olb. North Island steers were passed at £9 to ,£9 5s ; steers, ,£6 17s 6d ta : heifers, £5 15s to .£8 10s : cows, £5 5s to £B, and up to <£9 17s 6d for a few of extra quality.
Store cattle.—4oo yarded. Most of the business was done privately. At unction yearlings made 20s; 15 to 18months, 35s to 46s ; 2-yeas steers' £4 10s ; heifers, £4= Is ; 3-year steers, £5 7s ; heifers, .£4 13s 6d ; dry cows, 30s to 90s.
Fat sheep.—2soo penned, all shorn. A short supply caused a keen demand, and prices advanced Is per head. Freezing weathers, 13s 6d to 15s 7d ; heavy weight up to 18s ; best ewes, 14s to 16s; others, 9s to 13s; merino wethers, 9s to 10s 9d.
Fat lambs.— 1090 penned. A better sale ; two new buyers for export causing a rise of Is per head. 621 were taken for export at lis 3d to ,14s 8d ; 360 went to butche.is at 18s 8d to I7s : 108 were passed. Store sheep.—l6o9 penned and a poor demand. "Very few were sold. Shorn wethers 10s sd, and ewes and lambs 8s all counted.
Pigs—4Bo yarded. Quality poor. Baconers held their own at 32s to 50.--, equal to 3§ per lb ; porkers were easier at 18s to 30s, equal to per lb ; stores were almost unsaleable at 8s to 16s ; .muckers and weaners, 3s 3d to 7s.
Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co. in conjunction with Messrs Abraham and Williams) report that at their sale at Johnson ville, hear- Wellington,* on Friday last, had an average supply of bullocks. These were mainly of prime and medium quality. Prices showed no improvement, and a dull dragging sale remitted. Ox beef made 20s per lOOlbs, an occasional pen making up to 21s. lir sheep we had a full entry, mainly comprising good quality ewes. There was .poor competition, and prices dropped fully 2s per head in sympathy with the Home market.
