The October number of the New 1 dairyman and Farmer's Union Journal is to hand, aml-as usual contains a vast amount of information interesting tj daily farmers, eheesemakers, buttermakers, and others. In the pages devoted to the Farmer's Union of New Zealand of which it is the official organ, will be found reports from the various branches in the Colony, and an account of the doings of both the organising Secretary, and his assistant, Mr Fisher. There is also an excellent reproduction i.f a photograph of 3h Glass, the pio- ; neer of the Union. Taken altogether, "the Dairyman is an excellent production, and should receive the support of fanners and others throughout the " Colony. A Napier woman called up her gro- "■ cor by telephone the other morning and, after she had sufficiently scolded the man who responded, said: "And : . that's more, the next order you get from me : will be the-last I'll ever give you." <Mt probably will, madam," said the voice at the other end of the Mre ; "you are talking to an underfeet-"/ It will be rather a surprise to many people to learn that the value of the apple crop in the United States is ; gi eater than that of wheat production.
