THE NEW HEADMASTER
As the public Will be interested in the past scholastic career of the newlyappointed Headmaster of the Motueka High School, Mr T. A. Harris M.A., we give the following particulars : Cadet at Sanson school for one vear ; pupil teacher Campbelltown, 4years ; assistant teacher, Fexton, one year; headmaster Okaiwa, ten years. The list of subjects Mr Harris would undertake to teach, if necessary, includes all primary subjects, , Latin, French,. English, Chemistry. Mr Harris, who is married, is classified A2, is Master of Arts and Honoursman of University of New Zealand. He was fortified with exceptionally good testimonials. Concerning his career as a student, we cannot do better than publish an extract relating thereto : "As a student, Mr Harris has made a brilliant record. In his spare Ik urs, and while earning a livelihood,, away frcm the University with its professional help, Mr Harris has in the Aits course kept pace with the College students, with their whole time at their disposal and attending University lectures. He went through the whole course in the shortest possible tima (four- years) and last year (19G0) gained Honours, a feat accomplished by only sixteen others out of* the whole number of students at the four University centres of the Colony. I believe the performance is unique, and that Mr Harris is the first in New Zealand to take Honours without out ever attending University lectures.'" Altogether the Committee are to be congratulated upon their selection and we trust parents ana others will do all in their power to assist the man in his important duties.
