RIWAKA ROAD BOARD.
The usual meeting of the above Board was held on Friday 6th Sept., at which were present : —Messrs Bate (chairman) Cook, Drummond, Fry, and James. Minutes of previous monthly and special meetings were read and adopted. Correspondence received from : Hon R. J. Seddon and C. H. Mills, re abolition of Road Boards ; hands and Survey Department, Neb c , m,t.fying that £57 5s 9d “ think- ’ have accrued for the past year also scheme of expenditur e ; Treasury, Wellington. notifying progress payment of <£lso on Riwaka Yalley Road and Bridge, a payment of £'] 0 for maintenance Riwaka Eights ; Wimea County Council notifying that £2 10s has been voted to this Board towards salary of ranger, the board to find a like amout; Secretary Upper Monte re Road Board forwarding copies of resolutions etc., passed at a conference of Boards held at Upper Moutere August 10th. - The following tender was received ; For widening .Little Sydney Track : W. Evans and W. Whitehoru at £1 2s 6d per chain (siccepted). The following resolutions were passed : That tire accounts presented be paid, with the exception of the reservations already made : That the tenders invited for supply of gra-vel he held over till autumn ; That the b,urd's cartel- be employed for three days on the road commencing at H. Holvoake’s residence, and ending aq the Brooklyn School; that this Beard suppliment. the County Council’s grant of £2 10s-by a like amount towards tee salary of ranger, and that application be invited for the office, to he sent in by next meeting of the Board ; that W. Wliitehorn's oiler to erect a footbridge over Brooklyn stream fertile sum of 30s be accepted ; that as many members of the B ard as can make it convenient meet at Mr G. White’s to inspect the Old M ill Read with the view of having it put .in repair ; arid that this Board enters an emphatic protest against any. action being taken by legislation or other wise to make oyer as an endownment or investment to the Mctueka Borough Council any of the fore-shore within the Riwaka. Road Beaid I.'btviet, as they consider to do so would he detrimental to the future progress of the district, and that a copy of resolution be fin-warded to the Minister of the Marine Department. Cheques were signed for <£232 6s 1 Id.
