THE MARRIAGE OF LADY ALICE BOYLE.

LOXDOX, JULY 12th. Yesterday afternoon the wedding took place of Colonel Charles Fergusson, D. 5.0., of the Grenadier Guards, eldest son of the Right Hon. Sir James Fergusson, Bart., formerly Governor of New Zealand, and Lady Alice Mary I>.»yle, second daughter of the Earl and Countess of Glasgow. Lady Alice Boyle was given away by her father, Lord Glasgow. She looked very nice in a simple and soft ami becoming dress of white soee de chine, trimmed on the skirt and bodice with chiffon and Brussels lace, while a tiara of orange blossoms, from which depended a long tulle veil behind, was worn in her hair. In addition the bride wore a diamond necklace and a pearl anb diamond brooch, the gifts of fhe bridegroom, who also presented her with a bouquet of magnificent orchids and delicate foliage. The bride was accompanied by six young ladies as bridesmades. Three of them —the Misses Dalrymple, Alice Dalrymple, and Eva Bowlby—were her cousins; two —the Misses Edith Baird and Mcdly Baird—were nieces of the bridegroom; and the sixth was Miss Gstha. Williams, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. C. Williams, of Wellington. The four- elder bridesmaids wore very pretty dresses of white glace silk, inserted with many bands of wavy cream-tinted lace, and trimmed with rows of open drawn-thread-work in white silk. On their heads they each wore a wreath of single pink briar roses, with a tulle veil falling behind; [continued on page 5.]

their dresses were finished with a belt and sash ends of pink chiffon, and they carried boquets of lovely pink roses, which, with a gold and enamel neck chain, represented the bridegroom' present to each of the bridesmaids. The bridegroom was attended by his brother Commander Fergusson, R.N., as best man.

Among the guests were the Right j "ou. Sir Jaiiie-s Fergusson, Colonel the Hon. Robert Boyle, the Hon. Gathorne Gathorne-Hardy and Lady Dorothy Gathorne-Hardy, Lord and Lady Medway, the Ladies Boyle, Lady Evelyn Goschen, Lady Eglington, the Marchioness of Tweeddale, the Marchionees (i Ailsa, Dora, Countess of Chesterfield, Lady Tentry, Lady Hope, Lady Maxwell, Lord and Lady Kelvin, Julia, Marchioness of- Tweeddale, Lady Susan Gilmour, and many others. There was a large and brilliant gathering of guests in the chapel, most of them being well-known members of society. Subsequently they attended the reception, held by Lady Glasgow,

Liter in the afternoon Colonel and Lady Alice Fergusson left London for Scotland, where the honeymoon is being spent at Klilksrran, Sir J. Fergusson's place, in Ayrshire. The numerous presents includingfive massive silver bowls, presented to the bridegroom by his brother officers of the Grenadier Guards who served with him, rfSid who have left the regiment- The British officers present at Rossaires gave him a gold-moun-ted claret jug and silver bowl.
