Wai'nra, July 26, 4862. Friend, Mr. Halse,— I have received your letter or ihe 12th July. Friend, we are wailing for the Governor lo renew the investigation of Waitara, Tor we cannot refuse that investigation ; let the objection come from Tamebana Tarapipipi, and do you and the Governor make these words known to bim. The word proposed by the Governor to Tarapipipi was right, that the land should be investigated, that it might be ascertained to whom it belonged: therefore it wag'that we consented to that investigation. Our opinion, however, is, that the land is Te Teira's; that will. be seen when the enquiry takes place. Friend, communicate this to whatever chiefs you please, aiid when it is arranged, write to us. Enough. From your friends, fHAIA, Te Teira, Of Waitara.

The words spoken by the Governor to Tarapipipi are correct, tbat the land should be investigated that it might he seen to whom it belonged. In our opinion the land is Teira's: the investigation inll shew.
