Maori Correspondence.

Taupari, Waikato. On the 21st of May, the bones of Ruihana Nini were taken up and removed. He was a rangatira of Ngatitipa, and died in the fight at the Ihutaroa. The chiefs of Ngatitipa gathered together to mourn over him, at the removal of his bones. He was carried away and buried in a different place, together with his children (people) who fell with him on that battle field. Great was the affection of these chiefs at the raising up of Ruihana Nini, just as if he were alive, and even like the moon on its bursting forth in the horizon. The men who collected together were 206. I wish this to be printed in the "Maori Messenger." Enough. From your loving friend, Waata Kukutai. To the Editor of the "Maori Messenger."
