DEPARTURE OF THE GOVERNOR FOR THE SOUTH.

His Excellency the Governor, having recovered from his recent indisposition, took his departure for Napier and Wellington, on Tuesday the 26th instant, by the steam-ship While Swan. l Shortly afler noon, his Excellency emharked from the Wynvard Pier, in one of the boats of U.M.S. Iris', the crews of that frigate and her Majesty's sloop Elk, manning yards to do honour to his Excellency as he passed. Immediately on reaching llie While Swan, the Sleamer went down harbour at full speed, and, having had a fine wind, she has no doubt made a rapid passage. It is expected that his Excellency will he absent a month or six weeks from Auckland.
