GEOGRAPHY.

Geography teaches us a knowledge of the surface of the earth, its divisions, its general appearance, its different nations, the nature of its soil, &c. Many of our native friends, even now, will scarcely believe that the earth is round like a ball, with this exception, it is flattened at both ends, which are called its poles. The earth is more than twenty four thousand miles in circumference, and nearly eight thousand miles in diameter. It is composed of land and water, the ocean, however, covers a space more than twice as large as the land. The great divisions of the earth are as follows : —Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Australia,. Polynesia, and the Arctic Regions. The oceans are :—The Northern, the Southern, the Atlantic, the Pacific, and the Indian.
