VAN DIEMEN'S LAND.

Hobart Town, Launceston, and other places of minor importance, are said to be progressing steadily. The British Government has ceased to send its convicts to these shores, the moral atmosphere of this interesting Island, is likely therefore, to undergo a change for the better. As New Zealand is now happily self supporting, we do not require the flour of Van Diemen's Land ; consequently our commercial intercourse with that country, is not so great as it used to be. We in these Islands suffered from drought last year, and Tasmania suffered from another source ; her crops were destroyed by floods, and there was also some loss of life. This season is said to be a fruitful one, so that our sister Colony, with ourselves, will have "bread enough and to spare."
