Sir, —Some time ago I was introduced to a Native Chief, bearing a most excellent character, named Mohi, and having heard much of his place Pukaki, I became anxious to see it ; an opportunity having offered, I accompanied n gentleman to the Pa, with the hope of seeing a neat native village, but to my astonishment I saw a few wretched looking hovels, and the whole scene seemed a true picture of desolation I bad the pleasure of meeting with this Chief a few days ago, and as he was respectably attired in European clothes, I am hoping that hi* establishment has been metamorphosed too. I am, &c, Pakeiia.
