Europe,- Countries of. Scotland- Is to the north of England. The chief town of Scotland is Edinburgh. Some of the rivers of Great Britain are Thames, Severn, Cyide, Tweed. Ireland— Is an island near Great Ilritain. to the west of it. The chirr rivers of Ireland are Shannon and Lifl'cy. The chief towns are Dublin, Cork, Limerick. Thecliinate is mild; llic soil good. France— Has the English (Channel, and Netherlands on ihe north; Germany, and Switzerland on the east; Mediterranean Sen, mid Pyrenees on the smith; the Ray of Hiscay on the west. Is a large Continent. On the north is the Arctic Ocean, on the south the Indian Ocean, on the west the Mediterranean, Europe, and pari of Africa. Asia minor, isa peninsula. It is that part of Turkey which has the Black Sea on the north, the Archipelago on the west, llie Mediterranean on the south. There is a long back-hone of high-laud in Asia, it stretches from llie eastern side of China, to near the Caspian Sea. On the north of this hack-hone are the Altai Mountains, on the south of it the Himalaya. The Himalaya arc the highest mountains in the world. They are 27,000 feel high. The Rivers of Asia.
