Kahore he rongo hou o te whainga o Ngapuhi. Kei te Waimate nga hoia e noho ana, e tetari ana kite tukunga iho o te karangatanga_ a Heke, kia houhia te rongo:—kia kite ratou i te peheatanga ranei o tana kupu— ka pono ranei ka teka ranei. Tenei ake pea he mahi ma ratou ; aua ranei; ko wai hoki ka matau ! Ka rua nga pukapuka kua tae mai ki a te Kawana—na Heke—E pai ana nga kupu; otira, kihai i ata kitea tona tikanafa. O Utua atu ana ete Kawana kite pukupuka; pai!—pai kau nga korero a te Kawana.— Katahi pea ka tuhituhia nuitia mai te whakaaro o Heke. Kua korero a Heke ratou ko nga mihanere : otira, kahore ano matou i ata matau kite tikanera o a O ratou korero. Heci ano ta matou i matau ai; ko te kupu a Heke. E mea ana ia, ka hohou i te rongo ki a ia, me hohou ano hoki ki a Ka-witi.—Ka wliawhaitia a Kawiti; me whawhai ano hoki ki a raua tahi. Kei i a Heke tetahi wahi o te tikanga e hua ai te pai, e tupu tonu ai ranei te kino. Me he mea, ka tika pu nga korero o tana pukapuka tuhituhi mai:—ko reira pea pai ai.—Ka he ana korero heoi ano ra hoki; ka he ano; a, e taea hoki te pehea!
