Boxing Day Picnic.

The annual meeting in connection with the Boxing Day picnic was held in the Fire Brigade room on Thursday, 15th November, 1917, about a dozen persons being present. Mr C. Kirby * was votad tu the chair. . . j The minutes of the previous meetJ ings were read and confirmed. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet,: referred to the very satisfactory position of the funds in spite of many contributions ' to Patriotic and other purposes. The sum of £1 0s fid. was voted .to the local branch of the Red Cross Fund, leaving ■ the credit.balance of the year previous in band. The collectors did remarkably well and thanks were due to them foJHthe sound position the committee were in. Although the war clouds still hung bver us, he trusted that we would stil! bold the picnic as it was children's day; and letters from our noble boys at the front hoping that ; the picnic was still held proved that they did not" want it postponed on account of the war. A letter of thanks for the donation was received from Miss A. BrowD,. Hon. Sec. Red Cross Fund, Naseby., -- branch. I 4 ■ Mrs Churchill moved, and Mrs R. t Tait seconded—That the picnic be'held" " ! as usual on the 26th December.—Carried.
