Hospital Board.

The monthly meeting of the Maniototo Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held in the County Criambe>-s, Naseby, on Wednesday. 7th November. Present Messrs C. J. Inder (chairman), Davis, Mann, Kinney, Lowis and Marslin.

An apology was reai from Mr M'Atamney for non-attendance on account of illness, and one from Mr Wihon.

The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed and the outward correspondence read and approved. The Inspector-general forwarded copies of reports uf Special Schools and Infant Life Protection and Industrial School System, journals of the Department of Public Health, Hospitals and Charitable Aid and Social Hygiene, together with copies for distribution of Dr Platts-Mills' pamphlet on Social Diseases. Received and laid on the teble.

Correspondence was read from Mr P. M'Car thy, Secretary of St. Bathans Medical Club, respectingjthe retirement of Dr Griffin, who has enlisted for the front, and Dr Byres, who is suggested as his successor.—Received. Respecting the amount of allowance given to old age pensioners since the recent increase in old age pensions, the chairman stated the following payments were being made ty the Otago Benevolent Institution: That Board has increased the maintenance charge to 10s per w ek, and resolved that the sum of 2? per week be refunded to the inmates as at piesent, and that the balance of 3s be credited to each inI mate to be available for hiß or her comfort, benefit or pleasure. Held over until next meeting.

A let'er was read from Miss Farrow respecting the date of commencing her duties. The chairman stated that Miss Kelly, th? late matron, hsd been relieved of her dudes on the 25th ult. The Hospital Committee's report was read and adopted. A report on the death of Mee Hock was received from Constable Lemm, and stating that £2 3s Id was found on the body.—lnquiries to be made as to recovering burial expenses from his son.

Tenders for painting the infectious diseases ward were received, but on consideration were held over.

The chairman made allusion to the number of young men from this district who had sacrificed their lives in the noble cause of liberty and freedom, and moved the following resolution, which was seconded by Mr Davis— Tbat this meeting of the Board takes this opportunity of expressing its heartfelt sympathy with the parents and relatives within this Hospital District of the brave soldiers who have sacficed their lives in their noble efforts in maintaining the cause of freedom

and liberty of che British Empira and its dependencies, and with their inflexible determination to crash military despotism and domination. Accounts amounting to £lßl 16s 2d were passed for payment. The chairman stated that as this was the last meeting of the present Board,

he wished to thank the members for the interest tbey bad taken in the proceedings for the past three years, and hoped the same interest would be manifested by the new Board in all matters connected with the institution.
