GIRL STOAWAY'S ESCAPE.

Stranger than fiction are the adventure* of an English girl from Gravesend, who was discovered in a Dutch vessel w,hen tha latter was torpedoed, by ; a German submarine. The girl, whose age is 21, and who is without father, or mother, became engaged to marry a 'Dutch, sailor whoso ship had been detained in London. Her betrothed concerted with her in a plan for her gratuitous conveyance to- the Netherlands, where they were fci be married as soon as possible. A Dnteh sailor took her aboard a vessel and hid her among sails and nets in the forepart. The vessel, was torpedoed on the day after sailing. A shell from the German submarine went right through? the ship, nearly killing the girl, who then emerged from her concealment, and disclosed herself to the crew at the moment they were entering, their life-boat. She briefly, explained her presence, and was jtaken into the boat. The submarine left the crew to their

faCe. They were picked up by a fishing smack and taken to : Ymuiden, where the girl related her story, to the British Vi«»Consnl." by whom she was sent back to England, her nerves; somewhat shaken by the adventure.
