The Otago Military- Service Board — Messrs H. Y. Widdowson, S.M. (chairman), A. D. Bell, and E. Kellett-psat at Ranfurly'on Wednesday week,) and heard a number of appeals.—Captain Free was the military representative. John Lambert M'Phee (St Bathans), appealed on the ground .(hat be was managing bis mother's farm, and that he wise the support of her three >6ung children. Adjourned pending a, report and inquiry. George Reginald (farmer,; Patjau), whose appeal was ttupported by bis father, applied for time until the completion of harvesting.—Case to stand down uncil January, as the appellanc bad not been medically examined. If he is passed as fit the time for! his ,eoing into camp will be fixed at: the adjourned sitting. Charles Dougherty (Ranfurly) applied for a re-bearing of his son's appeal, which had been dismissed. Ihe reservist bad gone into camp.—The board refused a rehearing, but recommended that leave be granted until January, to enable the father to complete his shearingGeorge Armitage (Blackstone Hill), whose appeal was supported by his father, and to whom conditional exemption had been granted on January 22, came before the board in the process of combiDg out tfa'e First« Division. —A report had been received, and, after considering it, the board adjourned the appeal sine die. The case of James Mee (Beck ) was similar, and the appeal «as adjourned sine die.
The apftal of William Wallace Smith (We derburn) was supported by his father, and was on the ground that he was carrying on the business of his* father and brothers, two of the latter being on active'service. Owing to defective eyesight the father wa=> unable to carry on the work.—Adjourned sine, die.
David Wilson (Gimmerbum) appealed od the ground that be was the only man on a farm of 1079 acres.— Adjourned sine die. William Ledingham (Patearoa) appealed en the ground that he was carrying on a farm for his widbwen mother, who bad three sons at the fr nt. — A-jjourned sine die.
