On Monday a most disastrous fire devastated Daijnevirke, when the entire business portion of the town wa3 destroyed, two hotels and 27 business places being burnt. The loss -is estimated at £200,000. About 2.30 a fire started in an old wooden hotel. A westerly wind fanned the flames and in three minutes the building was ablaze. The flames jumped the street and held the mastery for three hours.
