The No. 1 Military Service Board sat at Ranfurly on Monday. A number of appeals . were heard. Wm. O'Dowd, St. Bathans; adjourned for three months. The following were adjourned sine die: Jas. Pottinger, Ranfurly; Alex. Helm, Gimmerburn; Harold E. Pearce, Paerau; Daniel T.Weir; W. A. Shea, Wedderburn; John Coyle, Kyehurn; John E. Mulholland, Paerau. C. Schriek (iPatearoa) appeal to be considered when Second Division Reservists are to be called up. A. W. Hill, Gimmarburo, to go with November draft. W. W. Smith, Wedderderburn, adjourned for inquiry. D. Wilson's (Gimmerburn) appeal was adjourned for a month, and also that of J. T. Beck, Oturehua, and J. Hastie, Kokonga, the latter to be medically reexamined. Watson Shennan, Puketoi, to go into camp with the January draft. Frank Roberts, to go with November draft. T. R. Crutchley, Kyeburn, to go with January draft. H. E. Brown, Oturehna, adjourned till December sitting. The following reservists, who were classed C2, had their appeals either withdrawn or formally dismissed: George G. Devenney, Ranfurly; Wm. Currie, Naseby; Wm. Johnston, Pateroa; Albert George Kinsman, Pukepouri; and M. M'Knight, Oturehua.
The Government has acquired the well-known Gladbrook estate, in Central Otago, from Mr John Roberts. The area of the estate is about 6000 acres, and it will be cut up into about 30 farms for returned soldiers. It is understood tbat the price was a verv satisfactory one for the Government.
The report of the Electoral Boundaries Commission is now almost completed, and it will Boon be in the hands of the Government. When the report is made public it will be found that the Motueka, Selwyn, and Otago Central electorates (all in the South Island) are to be wiped out. Three new electorates are to be created in the North Island —two of them in the Auckland province and the third probably in the Wellington province.—Times.
