THE QUEEN'S HOSPITAL
FOR FACIAL INJURIES
A new hospital and training school has been established (with the approval of the Queen aud with the consent of the Direc-tors-General of the Xavy and Army JUedical Services) at Frognal, Sidcup, Kent, for treatment of facial and jaw injuries sustained by sailors and soldiers. This institution will supply a great need. Its objects are twofold. First of all, to remove acute cases of facia! and jow injuries from the atmosphere of the crowded hospital into fresh country air and delightful surroundings; secondly, to provide cheerful outdoor occupations for the men dur-. ing their long convalescence. For this latter purpose extensive gardens and a farm of 100 acres have been acquired in the vicinity of the hospital. Tn addition, workshops will be provided for practical instruction in estate carpentry and other handicrafts, including work in connection with electricity, agricultural machinery, and motor traction. To enable this urgent work, to proceed without' delay, liberal grants have been made by the committees of the National Relief Fund, the British ! lied Cross Society, aaid Order of St. John. A' large sum is still required to complete and equip the hospital and workshops, and to provide for their upkeep. An urgent appeal for funds has been issued and signed by Field Marshal Lord French and other influential ladies and gentlemen. £SO will maintain for a year a bed to be named, altar ths donor.
