Golden Wedding.

, A couple of Naseby's oldest resi(tents celebrated tbeir golden weddine yesterday (13th Inst). The happy pair who have, travelled Buch a lone portion of life's journey together, are Mr and Mrs George Provan. They i l"® W e ' s Partnership on the 13th of September, 1867, being married at the Ho a burn (now Naseby) on that date.by the Registrar, Nugent Wood. The witnesses to the ceremony according to the .marriage certificate were George Munro and Mary Burns the mother of the" bride, whose maiden name, was Mary Ann Rools. Mr and Mrs Provan have resided in Naseby ever since, ana have always been highly respected. . They reared a large family, all of whom are, good citizens. Tnere are five sons and "five daughters living. Four of the sons are at the front, and are as fine a quartette of manhood, as one could, wish to see. The fifth.son is eligible for service. Of the daughters four are married. There are eleven grand children, one of whom a son of the'eldest daughter (Mrs D. Sutherland) is also at the front. Mr and Mrs Provan, at the eve of life, might weil fee] proud as they look back over life's journey and feel they have not iived in vain. Mr Provan ,is 76 years of age on Sunday next and Mrs a Provan is 65. They have not been well lately, but are improving at present.. They celebrated tbe event yesterday afternoon by gathering together as many of their relatives as possible. We wish them God speed during the evening of their life.
