The body of Les Darcy, the Australian boxer, who . died in the United States, was brought, to Sydney on June 26. The landing of the heavy casket was witnessed by a large crowd, which formed a procession to Wood, Colli 11, and Co. 'a. mortuary. An enormous number of people viewed the body during the day and night as it lay in state (says the Daily Telegraph). In the evening it was estimated that 2500 persons were hourly passing through the mortuary. At about 9 o'clock the crowd became so dense that an extra body of police had to be called out to handle the traffic. Admirers of the dead boxer crowded so tightly in front of the mortuary that two large plateolass windows were broken.
