Hospital Board.

I'.The monthly meeting of the Maniototo Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held in the Council Caambers, Naseby, on Wednesday, 6th June, 1917. Present.—Messrs C. J. Inder (chairman). Mann, M'Atamney, Kinney, Lowis, Davis, and Maralin. An apology was received from Mr Wilson for non-attendance. i

The chairman in a few appropriate remarks welcomed Mr A. Maralin on again resuming his «eat on the Board as the representative of the Borough of Naseby. The minutes were read and confirmed and the outward correspondence approved.

The other business consisted of a wire from the Inspector-general respecting Hospital requirements. A circular as to vacancies, uniformity of fees ana' hospital expenditure.—Received; the clerk to supply particulars and information asked for. A circular from Government Statistician respecting annual returns. supplied. A letter from Brown Bros., Electrical Engineers, Christchurcb, offering to supply a complete X Ray Plant. The cnairman v and clerk to make inquiries.—A letter from Dr Griffen, St. Bathans, medical attendant, reporting that a case of scarlet fever was being treated at Ida Valley. The clerk to the Board stated that he had written t e usual notice under the Public Health Act for the steps necessary to be taken to avoid infection.—A circular from the secretary, Wellington Hospital and C. A. Board, forwarded a draft of proposed rules for the guidance of the Hospital Boards' Association, and asked to be aivised of the opinion of the Board after perusal. The Board approved of the regulations with the exception of Rule 6, and agreed that it was inadvisable to join the association in the meantime. A letter from the secretary Otagn Hospital notifying that the following charges would be made, viz: —Dunedin Hospital, 35s per week; Otago Benevolent Institution, 12s 6d per week; Chr.»nic Ward, 17s 6d per week. And such charges will be made to your Board should any patient be admitted thereto. —The clerk was directed to reply. The Beard rescinded the resolution passed at last meeting granting an increased allowance to old-age pensioners in the hospital. The annual balance-sheet was read and adopted.

The Hospital Committee's report was also read and adopted.

The chairman stated that two rooms in the infectious diseases ward bad been completed with beaver board lining. It was alsoL agreed to line the nurses* room with the same material.

The requisition of the estimated receipts and expenditure for the current year was read and approved. A levy of one-tenth of one penny in the £ was made on the capital values of the county and the Borough of Naseby. In view of the increasing business of the board, it was moved by Mr Marslin, seconded by Mr Low is, and carried unanimously That the clerk receive an increase of £lO per annum.

Accounts amounting to £133 7s 5d were passea for payment.
