Council resumed. CONTRACT NO. 10. Only one tender for contract No. 10 wa3 received, viz., J. C. Chappie's, for formation, gravelling, ditching, ma'n road to Cambrian. Moved by Cr. Brown, seconded by Cr. Sfunrt —"That the lender of John Cole Chappie for contract No. 10 be declined, as being excessive, and that the Engineer be instructed to find out whether Caleb Dongee, the suG'Ctfs*ful tenderer for surfacing, &c, on that section of road, will enter into a contract to execute the work within thne months, at the schedule rates given in his tender for contracs No. 7." Carried. CONTRACT" NO 11. . Three tenders for rosid widening, &c., between Hyde township and Tuieri River and Kyeburn crossing were opened and considered. Moved by Cr. Brown, seconded by iJr. La verty, and carried—" That the tender of E. O'Connel for contract No. 11 be accepted." Accepted. E. O'Connell £ll2 2 0 Declined. Patrick Kenny £lls 8 0 Informal —Tames Lynn. SIGNING CONTRACTS. Moved by Cr Ewins, seconded by Cr. Brown—" That Crs. Holland and Shannon be authorised to sign contracts on behalf of the Council." Carried. MAIN ROAD CONTUACTS. Moved by Cr. Kwing, seconded by Cr. Brown—"That tenders be invited for contracts for surfacing, &a, on main road, ac cording to schedule prepared by Engineer ; also for urgpnt works required between Shag Rwer boundary and Kyeburn " Carried. FINANCE COMMITTEE AUTHORISED TO ACCSPT TENDEBS. Moved by Cr. Ewing, seconded by Cr. Foster, and carried—" That the Finance Commits te? be empowered to accept tenders for the maintenance contracts on inain road, and small contracts on branch roads of the County." ROAD THROUGH HXDIJ FARMS. Cr. Laverty drew the attention of the Council to the necessity of auib'orising some expenditure in connecting and forming road through Hyde farms. Moved by Cr. Laverty, seconded by Cr. Williamson—" That the Engineer be instructed to call for tenders for the extension of the district road at Hyde to main road leading from Hyde to Kyeburn ; cost net to exceed £150." Carried. . .. FINANCE. The following accounts were submitted, and, on the motion of Or Ewing, seconded hy Cr. Holland, passed for payment:— Engineer's pay sheet, £152 145.; E. O'Connell, collection of rates, £32 2s 6d ; Sergt. O'Neill dog collection, £7 17s ; Reed And Fen wick, printing done hy order of the Conference of County Chairmen, £1 ; W. itardling, £1 6s. BKIDGE OVKE THE MANUHBRTXIA. Moved by Cr. Ewing, seconded by Cr. Brown—"That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specification and estimate of cost for bridge over the Manuherikia River between Blackstone Hill and St. Bathans, such to bd framed so as to show what a simple footbridge and what" one available for horsemen will cost; and that the Financial Committee be authorised, as soon ps the amount placed on the Estimates by the Colonial Treasurer for the erection of that bridge i 3 known to be available, to call for tenders for the work." Carried. The Council then rose.
