MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Council was held at the Chambers, on Thursday, the 4th October. Present —his Worship the Mayor, Crs. Dillon, Brookes, Horswell, Glenn, and Hjorring. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORBESPONDENCE. A letter was read and considered from Mr. Kowlatt, solicitor, in reply to one from the Mayor, asking on what terms Mr. Kowlatt would accept the position of legal adviser to the Corporation, which were therein stated.—Proposed by* Cr. Hokswell (on notice), seconded by Cr. Bbookks tained by the Corporation on the terms mentioned in his letter read at last meeting of the Council." It was, after consideration, agreed that the matter should stand over for further consideration. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £5 3s. were passed for payment, An account of David White's (contract for scrubbing Recreation Reserve fence, £8) was referred to the whole Council to inspect the next day, when his claim was allowed, and passed for payment —£9 18s. 4d., including extras.
