Frieker, out of the celebrated mare Nora, imported from Melbourne by Mr. P. Aitchison. Nora was a large prize-taker in Melbourne. His sire is the celebrated horse Lofty, imported from Scotland by the Hon. Mathew Holmes. Duke of Edinburgh, as a two-year-old, took the first prize in hia class at Oamaru. He has a docile temper, i 3 thoroughly staunch and has proved himself a sure foal-getter in the Oamaru and Mount Ida Districts. Terms, £3 10s. Mountain Maid was imported from Victoria, and shown by C. Water, Esq. as a thoroughbred at Dunedin and Taieri Agricultural Shows against all comers, and was always first prize—besides producing three winnprs on the tnrf.
