At a mooting in Madras a resolution was adoptod that all the principal cities of' England, Scotland, Ireland, and India bo informed of the urgent neces«ity for assistance. Tho mover said more people had been found dead on one single morning in Madras than had died in the whole Bengal famine.. Queen Victoria has entered...on the 59th year of her age. Her Majesty was born on May 24th, 1819 and ascended tho throne on the death of her tincle, King "William IV., on June 20th., 1837. She has therefore completed the 40th year of her reign. .
