MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting vras held on Thursday, 12th, at the Council Chambers, Town Hall. Present —his Worship the Mayor, Crs. Dillon, Brookes, Rowlatt, Newmarch, and Craig. (Cr. George was ill, and unable to attend.) The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. _ coeeespondence. Letter read from Mr. James Young, blacksmith, asking permission to form a crossing oter footpath in Derwent-street to his shop.—Granted, on the motion of Cr. Bhooees, subject to the approval of the General Purposes Committee. A letter was read and received from Mr. M'Hutchesou, on behalf of the Naseby Cricket Club, urging upon the Council the advisability of having the Recreation Reserve manured and ploughed up without delay. . Letter read from Mr. George Stephens calling the attention of the Council to the state of the road leading to his house, it being dangerous at night to himself and and family.—deferred to the General Purposes Committee to consider. EECBEATION RESEBYE. Resolved, on the motion of Cr. Ceaig—■ "That the Town Council take over the cricket ground immediately, in accordance ■ with the agreement between the Council and the Club. The Town Clerk was instructed to apply to the Government for 500 forest and ornamental trees and 250 poplars, to be planted in the Reserve. NOTICE. Resolved, on the motion of Cr. Ceaig—- " That the various owners or occupiers of property fronting on Derwent-street, out of whose premises water overflows the footpath, be at once notified that the necessary repairs must be made by them to the satisfaction of the Council." FINANCE. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Webber and Kirby, labor, Derwent-strcet, £1 155.; Thos. Stephens, labor and cartipg tussocks, £4 19s. 6d.; D. Langmaak, work and materials, £5 6s. od.; George Stephens, lamps, &c., £l6 Bs. 6d.
