That your Memorialists, being the pioneers to construct water races and reservoirs on the St. Bathans Goldfield, at a cost of upwards of £SOOO sterling, thereby being the means of developing St. Bathans as a sluicing district: 2nd. That your Memorialists pray that a Special Claim of fifteen acres of land, for mining purposes, situated at Surface Hill, St. Bathans, may be granted as a reward for their enterprise and outlay, upon such terms as the Warden of the district may approve in terms of clause 12 of the Goldfields Act 1866. * 3rd. The special area prayed for is aurifer ous, of inferior quality, and will require to be worked on an extensive scale with the most improved mining machinery. A tail race to work the land will have to be constructed, one mile in length, an average depth of fifty feet, at an estimated cost of £3OO sterling. SAMUEL TURNER, Manager. April 21st, 1877.
