The ordinary meeting was held at the Council Chambers on the 3rd inst. Present —his "Worship the Mayor, and full Council.

COERESPONDEKCE.

Copy of a letter to M'Grath and Elannagau, giving them notice to remove the tail bos crossing the footpath on the west side of bridge, Roach's Gully. Letter read and received from Mr. Michael Brookes and Company, asking permission to work the ground in Tay and Ea'nnoch streets, and offering to enter into such conditions as the Council may impose to make good the same. Helened to General Purposes Committee to report thereon.

Letter read and received from Mr. de Lautour informing the Council that he was not a consenting party to the alteration being made in Leven street on *" and about his r propertv, an'd-'that he should take legal proceedings for any damage sustained. Referred to. General Purposes Committee.

The Mayor read/a requisition addressed to him (signed by six ratepayers) to convene a public, meeting, in. the, Town., Hall to Cohsult'as to what lawful steps' should betaken to obtain a substantial grazing right for the inhabitants of the town and district. . BKPOIiT. A:-report from tho General Purposes Committee was read by tho Mayor, which recommended a culvert to be made from the school reserve, and carried' into Moore's racer, with sufficient fall to carry off,the water from Kirby's corner ; also, to make two culverts from Keswickstruot into Dorwent street, each about sixteen feet long, for 30a. each; that the work uow being done iu Foylo and Leven•Bt reels bo.under the inspection of Mr. Michael Brookes, and approved by the General Purposes Committee; find that notiee be given to Messrs. M'Grath and Flanmigan to remove their tail box within forty-eight hours, at foot of bridge, Boaeh's Gully, th % y having failed to comply with notice of 7th April last. FINANCE. The following accounts were passed for payment George Stephens, lamp and post.&c., £7 Is.; George Stephens, fixing timber at drain foot of Leven-street, 17s.
