Jin. G. H. Tuibe, M.H.R. for Totara, is dead. Captain Campbell Waleeh, after furnishinnr his report lo the Government, -will .leave the Colony probably by next month. Captain Caldep., late of the s.s Otago, has been appointed chief officer of the steamer Victoria. Special services were held in St. Patrick's Cburch last Sunday by the Kev. E. lioyer. The collections, which were in aid of the Mount Ida District Hospital, amounted to £G2s.6cl. 'i'jiE ' Waifcangi Tribune ' is very severe on the ' Otago Daily Times ' It suys :—" The following telegram reached Us last evening: ' Will you wire us on Monday say 600 words reopening Waimate Branch railway ? Hard facts.—J. G. Ifruser, ' D.iily Times.' " Now, seeing that the Dunedin thunderbolt does not even condescend to exchange with us, the request displays a lilfcle 100 much assurance. Probably Mr. Fraser is a very youthful aspirant to literary fame "
