WHAT IS VAGEANCY?

(To the Editor of the Mount Ida Chronicle. ) Sib, —Seeing in your paper last week that Janet Watson got three months for vagrancy, you might be kind enough to let me know what vagrancy means. I don't understand it. I engaged Janet Watson for housekeeper, and I have paid her £3 10s this year for wages; so, according to our Warden's ruling, no one can keep a housekeeper. I think that if our noble Sergeant were to watch claims, and see that the boxes did not get robbed, it would be better for all men.—l am, &c., John Faemeb.
