MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting was held in the Council Chambers on the Bth February. Present —Crs. Brookes (ohair), Dillon, Craig and Uowlatt. COBEESPO NDEN CE. Letcer read from the Colonial Secretary, calling attention to section 106 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876, which directs that all moneys belonging to tho Corporation of the Borough be paid into such bank as the Council from time to time appoint, and publicly notify the same, to be called " The Borough Fund Account." Letter from the agent Bank New South Wales, in reply to Town Clerk, stating that the Corporation account had been removed some time since from the abovementioned bank to the Bank of New Zealand. ■DISQUALIFICATION OF MAYOR. Cr. Cbaio moved (according to notice), Cr. DiLion seconded, and it was carried —"That the Council vote and pay to Mr. L. W. Busch the sum of £5 lis., the amount of fine and expenses incurred by ; him in the prosecution by E. T. George. Ayes—Dillon and Craig; no —llowlatt. j Thereupon Cr. Rowlatt handed in the j following protest;— I protest against the resolution of Cr. Craig, voting a sum of money to defray the expenses of Mr L. W. Fusch in the Vate case ! George v.
