Mr. Feraud has succeeded in producing AROMATIC TOKIC BITTER WIKIiS, which aro not only agr.eeable beverages, but also have excellent medicinal qualities. The following is Professor Blank's report:— ; "University, Dunedin, Otagoy New Zea--land Laboratory; Class Beveragesi - --I ■ ■ November sth, 1875'; I have examined for Mr. J. D. Feraud, of Monte Christo, Clyde, Otago, two samples of Aromatic ' Toriic P-itters, with the following result; No. 827; is a sherry colored, and No. 828 is a port wine red colored liquid ; they, aro both perfectly, transparent showing the purity of the water and other substances employed in'tlicir manufacture. These two beverages have a slight acid chemical reaction,. aiid possess ail agreeable,, cool bitter taste, blended with a sensation' of sweetness, nvisiug from the saccLariao matter of the fruit of which they arc the fermented extract. I have also examined the aromatic and other ilavoring substances used by Mr. Feraud in their manufacture, and from the proportions in which they are blended with the fruit wine, they must, be pronounced perfectly safe, and freo from anything like deleterious properties. I consider this wine, therefore, an agreeable and perfectly safe beverage, and whea°diluted with three or four'times their bulk of water, ! thoy will mate a good cooling summer drink. - .TAMES G.
