ST. DAVID'S DAY AT CAMBRIAN.
A public meeting was held at Cambrian last weate in the school room fonthe purpose of considering the desirability of holding the usual festivities on that day. There was a good muster of persons hailing' from that part of Britain supposed to be under tha especial patronage of St. David, and.- together with others not so highly favored, seemed to be thoroughly in earnest in their wish to promote the continuance of the annual picnic and other amusements which ~ have been so successfully carried on for the last few ; years at Cambrian on that day, and which have been so thoroughly well appreciated by those attending on former occasions. »On the motion of Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Hughes, Mr. 11. G. Brown, M.C.C., was voted to the chair, who briefly explained the object of the meeting, alluding to the success the efforts of the committee of management had met with on the last occasion. He would be glad to give a helping hand in rendering it a success this year, should the meeting determine on holding it. After remarks - I from several gentlemen present endorsing the views of the Chairman, Mr. Hughes moved, and Mr. JThur-' low seconded—"That ifcis desirable that the customary festivities should be observed on St. David'B Day, and that the amusements consist of a picnic and sports ; and in the evening a dance and concert."— Carried.—Moved by Mr. Scott, seconded byMr.W.Thurlow, and carried—" That the gentlemen present, ■■ together with the School Committee, be appointed a Committee to carry out the former resolution.—Mr. Scott was requested to act as hon. Secretary,- and Messrs. Williams,-league, and J. T?hurlow were appointed a sub-Committee to arrange for the provisions and refreshments. The tickets were fixed at 7s. 6d.,as on former occasions,- and Messrs. T. Hughes and W.Thurlow agreed to canvass the district for subscriptions for sports, &c.
